Dear Middle School Parents and Families,

As we continue to focus upon improving the middle school athletic experience provided our students we are making some further adjustments starting with the Girls Basketball and Wrestling seasons that begin October 24.

First, we will continue to encourage students to participate in sports by keeping a “no cut” policy in place for all of our middle school athletic opportunities and by creating as many teams as needed to allow all interested students the chance to participate.  Getting more kids involved in after school activities and helping them learn athletic skills is very positive for our students and their long term success.  If your child is interested in these opportunities please encourage them to turn out.    

Additionally, beginning with this year’s basketball seasons, the most competitive basketball players will be grouped onto one 7^th grade and one 8^th grade team. This will also be the case in future volleyball seasons. So that all interested students can have a valuable athletic experience, the other basketball and volleyball teams will be created with equally distributed talent levels.

To provide our students the best possible athletic experience we will also be partnering with area schools such as Castle Rock and Kelso as a member of the Southwest Washington Middle School Athletic League. This will help all of our kids grow, develop, and enjoy their middle school athletic experience while having the chance to also compete against athletes from other communities.

If your child is interested in participating in middle school athletics, you are encouraged to work with their middle school to get them signed up. If you have questions please contact the office at your child’s middle school. We appreciate your support.
