Welcome Mustangs!

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

August has arrived, along with the 90 degree temperatures. That must mean it is time to start thinking about school again. I hope that you are enjoying the wonderful weather with your family and friends. On behalf of the Monticello staff, I would like to welcome you to the 2018-19 school year.

It is hard to believe that the first day of school is just around the corner. Many of our staff members have been busy taking classes and preparing for the upcoming school year. Our Lego/Robotics summer school just finished up and was a huge success thanks to the work of Mr. Weiss, Mrs. Hernandez, Mrs. Piper, and the rest of our summer school staff.  Our librarian, Ms. Olson, also just finished an amazing summer reading program at Monticello. All of this hard work has been done to ensure that our students have a comprehensive, high-quality education.

This will be my 21st year in education and my 5th year at Monticello. I can honestly say that our staff is the best. They are dedicated, hardworking and committed to making Monticello a school of distinction. State testing results indicate that we rank in the top 10% of schools in Washington State in terms of GROWTH on the state math assessment and we rank in the top 25% for English Language Arts. That means our students work really hard to improve while at Monticello. We realize that this requires a group effort. We are excited to work collaboratively with you to continue that success. We believe in a strong partnership between the school, home and community. This will ensure that every child receives the necessary support to reach their full learning potential.

To make sure that we get off to a great start, I have included some important dates and information below to help you as we approach the first week of school.
